2021-2023 GNTC Strategic Plan
Throughout 2020, the Board of Directors of GNTC reflected on the mission of GNTC and how to best accomplish that mission through a three- year strategic plan. As we progress through the plan, we will keep the community informed to our progress and invite those interested to help us accomplish our plan through joining a committee and providing advice and insight.
The Mission of Great Northern Theatre Company is to foster, encourage and develop an appreciation of theater, particularly musical theater. We value:
- enriching the lives of the people of Central Minnesota
by engaging them in the power of live theater,
-creating opportunities for children and adults to develop talents in all aspects of theater,
-fostering the love of theater, music, the arts and social connections,
-excellence, innovation, inclusiveness, collaboration, development, stewardship and fiscal integrity.
The Four Pillars of the 2021-22 Strategic Plan:
2. PERFORMANCES GOAL: Produce shows that provide a quality arts experience, with financial viability, while
promoting diversity, equity and inclusion for cast, crew and audiences by December 31, 2023.
2A. Evaluate GNTC’s season schedule (i.e. type of show, timing, location) by December 31, 2021 with pilot implementation (Show Selection Committee) by January 2022.
2B. Assess our processes and increase our presence in the community to broaden our talent pool (Operations Committee) by
December 31, 2023.
3. AUDIENCE GROWTH GOAL: Achieve at least 50% capacity for our summer show and return to at least 80% capacity for dinner theatre performances by December 31, 2023.
3A. Create a comprehensive marketing plan (i.e. social media, print media, website) to increase ticket sales (Marketing
Committee) by June 30, 2021.
4. FINANCE GOAL: Realize an annual 4% profit to financially sustain the organization and fund assets
by December 31, 2023.
4A. Create a comprehensive annual plan to generate non-performance related revenue (Budget Committee) by December
31, 2021.

- AUDIENCE GROWTH covers marketing and communications.

- OPERATIONS GOAL: As a board, we need to create and document solid policies, processes and procedures to have an efficient and effective organization by December 31, 2023.
1A. Establish a committee to create an Operations Manual for each component of the organization (Operations Committee) by December 31, 2023.
